Research Rally Honoring Richard Heerema
We are pleased to invite you to the next Research Rally on Friday, November 30, at 9:00 a.m. in room 104 at O’Donnell Hall. The rally will honor Richard Heerema of the Extension Plant Sciences Department for “Systems Approach to Improving the Long-Term Competitiveness of U. S. Pecans based on their Nutritional and Health-Promoting Components.” This four year, $2.4 million program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture through the University of Georgia, and involves investigators at Georgia, NMSU and Texas A&M.
After introductory remarks by Vice President Chaitanya and Interim President Pacheco, principal investigator Dr. Heerema and NMSU co-investigator Jay Lillywhite, of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business, will present an overview of their planned work under this award. At 9:30, they will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on Friday, November 30.
(The Office of the Vice President for Research hosts a series of Research Rallies to inform the university community and stakeholders within the State of New Mexico about NMSU’s research successes and contributions. These Rallies honor faculty and staff investigators for significant externally-funded projects and are designed to elevate awareness about NMSU’s research efforts and its impact on the New Mexico community and elsewhere.)
